Make it Sew For Good - Unpaper Towels

  • 121 South Main Street Lexington, VA 24450 USA (map)

Join us for a Make it Sew for Good Sewcial!  This series of sewcials will complete projects focused on service and sustainability, optimally both at once.

Our first project is making Unpaper Towels which will be included in our local Buy Nothing Project’s Care Kit initiative.  These kits provide donated toiletries and household items to local families in need.   Up-paper towels will provide a reusable alternative to purchased paper goods.

In keeping with our philosophy, we’ll make use of cotton flannel from our stashes.   We have several sets of sheets to start with, but feel free to contribute from your own stashes – flannel sheets, pillowcases, jammies, or remnants.   The fabric should be un-pilled and in good shape.  We hope to make a colorful variety that recipients want to use in their homes.  You’ll probably want to go home and make some for yourselves too.

We’ll gather at Make it Sew and work in teams.  Non-sewists can cut and prepare fabric for others to sew, serge or pink.  Bring a serger if you have one, or favorite pinkers.

At this event, we will also discuss ideas for future projects.  Share ideas and samples if you have them.  We will prioritize local needs, and also contribute to larger, global projects.

This is a great opportunity to sew with a community of friends, old and new and Make it Sew for Good (Service and Sustainability)

There is no fee for these events, but please register here so we can anticipate your arrival.
